Training

So you would like to become a radio amateur, or would like to know more about this exciting hobby?

The Mid Sussex Amateur Radio Society are able to offer short talks, demonstrations and lectures on varied subjects relating to amateur radio to interested groups in the Sussex area.
IIf you would like to obtain an amateur radio licence, we are registered to provide training courses qualifying you to obtain a transmitting licence.
Training is at three levels, Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced.

» “Foundation” is the entry level for all candidates joining the hobby. Our courses consist of a two- day weekend culminating in the examination and immediate notification of a pass or fail. The course is designed for those with no prior knowledge of the technical subjects covered, and is suitable for ages 8 to 80!

» “Intermediate” courses follow on from the foundation level, and consist mainly of practical subjects associated with the amateur radio station.

» The “advanced” level is for those wishing to become fully qualified in amateur radio. This level is primarily the theory of radio, electronics, and operating at advanced levels.

Our exam centre is also registered to offer an exam only service for those who are prepared and assessed.
