About Us

We are a group of local radio amateurs who meet 7.30pm, Friday Evenings at Cyprus Hall, located in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. At Cyprus hall we have a fully equipped radio shack allowing communication world wide. Each Friday Evening we have various activities ranging from talks by guest speakers or members on all sorts of interesting subjects, Evenings on the air using the shacks equipment, Equipment sales and general nights where just have a social gathering drinking tea and coffee. Also we have outdoor activities such as direction finding contests and we paticipate in the annual VHF National Field Day competition. Our members consist of all ages young and old and we all find we have interests in one of the many aspects of Amateur Radio. Often members will bring down projects or help each other out in construction or technical issues relating to the hobby during these Evenings.

Amateur Radio is a great hobby which will last a lifetime. You can learn how to become an efficient radio operator and how to make your signals reach the far corners of the globe or even chat to the astronauts on the International Space Station. We even have members who can not only broadcast voice but TV as well on licensed amateur frequencies. This is a great hobby for the younger people who maybe wants a career in Electronics or communications as they will pick up a good understanding of electronics and radio communications. We also hold short courses to teach the skills so you can get a license to operate your own radio equipment.

So why not come along one Friday Evening and see what the hobby is all about. You will be very welcome and we can give you a demo of the shacks radio equipment. Check out the "what's on page" to see events.
